Nightglowe Starlight Kit
Most car lighting kits look exactly like what they are, an afterthought. The Nightglowe Starlight Kit is different. Engineered for a seamless, factory-finish integration using premium RGBW fiber optic strands, it turns your headliner into a full night-sky ceiling that looks like it came standard from a six-figure build.
Choose Your Setup
- 800 Fiber Strand Set: Standard rooflines. Dense, even coverage. From $339.99.
- 1,200 Fiber Strand Set: Large roofs, big sedans and SUVs. From $379.99.
Both sets also include the shooting star module, which carries its own separate 120 strands. Those are the moving lines rather than part of the star field. They run on their own engine and their own controller, so you can switch the movement off and leave the stars running.
The 1,200 is not brighter, it is more coverage. The same 20W engine drives both, so the extra 400 strands give you more stars, not more output. Choose on roof size. An 800 spread across a large SUV roof starts to look thin, while on a standard roofline it is dense and even.
How Bright Is It, Really
The question everyone asks, and the honest answer is brighter than you expect. Customers regularly tell us the stars read clearly in daylight when they look up, and they photograph well on a phone's front camera.
Here is what actually controls it, and it is not the strand count. Brightness comes from how far the fibre tip sits proud of the headliner when you trim it. Trim flush and the fabric creeps over the tip and dulls it. Leave it just proud and the stars read strongly. That single detail is the difference between a roof that looks factory fitted and one that looks dim, and it costs nothing to get right.
Density works the same way. It is set by how you space the holes, not by the strand count. The gaps are what make it read as a night sky rather than glitter.
What Makes It Different
- RGBW fiber optics: Full color plus true white. White has its own dedicated channel rather than being approximated from three colours, and the dual colour engine runs two colours at once so you can layer a warm white with a second tint.
- Shooting Star Module included: Moving light effects built in, on their own engine and controller. No extra purchase needed.
- Zero permanent modifications: No drilling, no cutting. Fits behind factory trim and is fully reversible.
- App and remote control: Set colour, brightness, twinkle speed and patterns from the Magic Lantern app, on iOS and Android, or from the included remotes.
Living With It
- It remembers where you left it. Set your colour and brightness, park the car overnight, and it comes back exactly as you left it. No app, no remote. Nothing we sell resets on its own.
- The stars dim properly. All the way down to a soft glow for night driving.
- The shooting stars are optional, every time. The meteor module is a separate unit with its own controller and its own 120 fibres, so you can switch the movement off entirely and leave the star field running.
- Independently adjustable: twinkle speed, brightness, colour and pattern, plus shooting star frequency and speed on its own controller.
One thing to know before you buy. There is a brief startup animation when the system powers on, and it cannot be turned off. It is hard coded into the controller board rather than being an app setting. It is short, but we would rather you knew now than after it is fitted.
Fitting It: An Honest Word
This is the longest install we sell. The headliner comes down, every fibre is threaded and trimmed by hand, and on most cars it is a weekend job rather than an afternoon.
Plenty of customers fit their own, and there is a full DIY installation video showing the whole process from start to finish, including the app being set up at the end. It is worth twenty minutes before you order. If you would rather not drop your own headliner, this is the one product we would suggest a professional for.
What's Included

Electrical Specs (12V)
- Star engine: 20W dual colour RGBW
- Shooting star engine: 9W
- Recommended fuse: 3 amp
Power and Battery Safety
- Wire it to a switched 12V source. This is our recommended installation method. On a switched, or ACC, feed the system powers up with the car and shuts down with it, so nothing is left connected to your battery while the car is parked.
- A permanently live feed is a tradeoff, not a mistake. Some owners wire to a constant 12V source on purpose, so they can switch the stars on from their phone without the ignition on. What you give up is that the engines stay connected to the battery the whole time the car is parked, and that counts against the 50 mA parked car budget below. On a car driven most days that is usually a fair trade. On a car that sits for long stretches, or one with a battery that is already marginal, use a switched source. If you want the phone control without the constant connection, run the feed from an ignition switched fuse in the dash fuse box, or use a relay with the coil triggered by ACC.
- Both engines share one budget. The 20W star module and the 9W shooting star module are separate units with separate controllers, but if you feed them from the same circuit the fuse has to carry both.
- The budget you are working inside is about 50 mA. That is the accepted figure for everything still drawing on a parked car, across the whole vehicle, shared with your car's own modules. It is why the feed you choose matters more than the kit itself.
- To check your own car. Put a multimeter in series with the negative battery terminal, lock the car, and wait 30 to 40 minutes for the vehicle's own modules to go to sleep before you read it. Compare that with the kit unplugged. The difference is the kit.
- This does not affect your warranty. Hardwiring to a switched 12V accessory source is our recommended method and is not an exclusion. Incorrect wiring, and improper power or ground connections, are.
