Ford F-150 & RAM 1500 Ambient Lighting Installation Guide

Trucks are increasingly the canvas of choice for serious lighting builds. The F-150 and RAM 1500 both have spacious interiors with plenty of trim channels to route lighting discreetly. Here's how to do it right.

F-150 (14th Gen 2021+) Interior Lighting

The 2021+ F-150 has a modular dashboard with deep trim channels. The ambient strip runs naturally behind the instrument cluster brow and along both door cards. Tap into the 12V accessory fuse (labeled "Acc" in the F-150 fuse box under the hood) for a switched power source that kills the lights with the ignition.

RAM 1500 (DT 2019+) Interior Lighting

The RAM 1500 has a distinctive interior design with sweeping surfaces, ideal for ambient lighting. The lower door card channels accept a standard 8mm LED strip. Run the power cable through the A-pillar to the BCM fuse box and tap fuse 27 (ignition-switched 10A) with an add-a-circuit fuse.

Crew Cab Rear Seat Area

Both trucks benefit from rear footwell lighting in the crew cab. Route strips under the front seat lip, which provides a natural diffusion edge. Power from the same controller using the extension cables in your NIGHTGLOWE kit.

Starlight Headliner on Trucks

Truck headliners are larger than cars but follow the same install process. Budget an extra hour for the crew cab. The B and C pillar trims on both F-150 and RAM clip off cleanly without tools. The headliner drops from the rear and is guided out past the front windshield seal.

Exterior Underglow

High-clearance trucks are perfect for underglow installs. Mount the LED strips on the frame rails using metal mounting brackets (included) for durability. The 4-zone controller mounts under the rear seat, and the receiver antenna sits on the rear windshield with clear line of sight to the remote.
